On August 16, the jury took less than an hour to reach a verdict that Safia was not guilty. Safia says she cried tears of joy after hearing the verdict, but it was not the end of her troubles. She says she faces prejudice in the Afghan community due to her separation from her first husband and her pursuit of an education and career.
